(OUT OF THE) ORDINARY

Strewn toys - Four years old, whole and broken

Clutter eats into time- precious!
Running routine of pursuits
Step
By
Step

For Windfall gains and
Losses collated as experiences
Clocked by discipline
Pruned to beat days and nights

Reprimand yields for fleeting seconds,
A ray of hope, fades into
Blissful ignorance of tenderness
Comes in circles

Gathering wits, bits and pieces
Dissent blares -
To melt when daughter smiles –

Sun peeps out of the shadow.

Verse First ~ The Ordinary where Kim prompts us.

  3. I love those two images - the daughter smiling and the sun peeping.

  4. Lovely bits and pieces strewn about. I smile because my 20 year old still leaves bits and pieces of her life strewn about my world. I think I lost my wits while picking up the pieces so many years ago.

  5. Sometimes I think kids don't care at all if toys are broken. They play with them anyway. I understand melting when your daughter smiles....there is something beautiful about seeing the joy in a child's eyes, isn't there?
